3. The Broom and the Heather

I began writing this song with the intention of connecting to my Celtic heritage. The male counterpoint came to me a few years after I'd written the female part. I didn't recognize the connotations of the "the broom" and "the heather" (heath, heathen) until much later. Its a representation of not just the reuniting of two lovers, but the reunification of all levels of masculine and feminine: the inner ("when the two are made one"), and the reflection in the outer: God (Active principle, Power, Heaven) and Goddess (Being, Nature, Earth). Resolving the dualities.  As in the Magdalene teachings - "there is no separation." There is only Love.
